Five (05) very important parts of flowering plants are root, stem, leaf, flower and seed; each performing particular functions:
Root
The root is underground part of the plant. Its branches spread in different direction through the soil. The roots absorb water and minerals from soil and anchor plants.
Stem
The stem of the plant grows from root above the ground. It also has branches; and branches have many leaves. The stem supports the plant and transports water and minerals from the roots to the leaves.
Leaves
The most important function of leave is to make food for the plant. Typical color of leaves is green. They are of different sizes and shapes.
Flowers
Fruits and seeds are formed from flowers. The flowers are of different sizes and colors.
Seeds
Seeds are formed within the flowers; the area around the seed ripens into fruit. Some fruits haves only one seed such as mango, apricot, peach. Some may have many seeds like guava, papaya and watermelon etc. A new plant germinates from seed when it is sown.
